At Carter Middle, the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program empowers students to reach their full academic and personal potential. More than just an elective class, AVID is a community of motivated learners preparing for success in middle school, high school, college, and beyond.
Through structured support in organization, note-taking, critical thinking, and goal setting, students take ownership of their education. AVID scholars collaborate in tutorials led by peer tutors, strengthening their understanding of core subjects.
Students also gain access to college and career exploration, leadership opportunities, and field trips, building confidence, perseverance, and determination. AVID students are expected to lead by example, demonstrating dedication, respect, and a strong work ethic both in and out of the classroom.
