Enrollment Information

Students who are zoned for Carter Middle School and attended a Knox County elementary school for 5th grade are automatically enrolled. 

Enrollment hours are from 7:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. on full school days and during specified office hours in the summer months. Enrollment must be completed in person by a parent or legal guardian.

The following documents may also be needed: 

  • Proof of Birth: Government-issued Birth Certificate, passport, or immigration documentation.
  • Immunization Records: The student’s Tennessee Department of Health Immunization Certificate (shot record signed by the child’s physician or county health department). Visit the Knox County Schools Immunization page for more details.
  • Recent Physical Examination: Proof of a physical exam within one year of enrollment.
  • Proof of Residence: One of the following—gas, water, or electric bill. If the utility bill and/or lease agreement is in the name of someone other than the parent/guardian, that individual must provide the utility bill and/or lease agreement, along with a notarized letter confirming that the parent/guardian and children reside at the address.
